Death of NHL Hockey

Throughout the ages, different sports have gained popularity, and then for obscure, and often unknown reasons, fell out of favor and took their place in the dust drenched halls of has-beens. While we cannot answer the question of what happened to those ancient games, we can readily see the imminent demise of one of my favorite sports, hockey. At one time, the pinnacle of hockey success was to play in the National Hockey League (NHL), but, due to current insane salary structuring and profit sharing, the pallbearers are being picked for its funeral. And, as professional hockey plummets off the edge of the existence, other professional sport leagues are hot on its heels. At the heart of the matter is money. As the NHL and its players argue, the fans stand to the side, like children watching their parents fight, and cry. The fans, who should be as excited as kids on Christmas eve, are as sad and lonely as orphans. Fans don’t like to be sad, and won’t Continue reading »

Phuket remains one Thailand’s most popular island destinations. With its beautiful beaches, its vibrant nightlife, and its world class diving, Phuket offers something for everyone. Although the 2004 Tsunami was devastating to Thailand and its surrounds, according to PATA, the tsunami actually had very little lasting impact on tourism for the island, with only 10% of room vacancies being affected immediately after the tsunami. Even with the world wide economy experience the effects of an economic slowdown, tourism remains strong in Phuket. What the potential traveler may not realize about Phuket is that its location in the Continue reading »

st8ts puzzleThere are literally a billion people who love to play Sudoku faithfully, and we want to let them know about another game, called Str8ts, that they will really enjoy. While similar in style to Sudoku, it’s perhaps even more fun! Some of you may remember when the creator of Str8ts appeared on the wildly popular television show, “Dragon’s Den”, looking for investors. In case you missed it, a bidding war erupted, which resulted in three Sharks collaborating and offering him more money than he had even asked for!

Str8ts is a creation of Syndicated Puzzles.com, a relatively new venture in puzzle publishing. What sets it apart from its competitors, are the brains, and an enormous deposit of creativity behind it all. Syndicated Puzzles combines the inventiveness of maverick game creators, Jeff Widderich, and Andrew Stuart. Jeff is the mad scientist type, who is Continue reading »

Greedy ManSlot and casino games are a big hit on Facebook. It seems like every few weeks, a new casino game is being developed.

One of the latest, launched on June 21, 2012, is the game ‘Jackpot Party Casino’, which is ran by Williams Interactive LLC (WMS), and Phantom EFX (a newly merged division of WMS). Jackpot Party Casino features real WMS slot machines like those that you’ll find in casinos, but, to be quite frank, that’s about the only thing that Jackpot Party Casino has going for it. You’d think with so much detail given to every other aspect, their ‘prime objective’ would be to use the realistic online slot machines as a draw to get players to “real” casino machines.

But not Jackpot Party Casino. It’s one of the first free games I’ve found on Facebook that makes me want to play less, instead of more. Continue reading »

skateistan logo

…well, should be, Oliver Percovich, for his role with Skateistan. This is probably the coolest organization that’s come along in a long, long time, and it’s doing in Afghanistan what the world’s greatest military strategists could not. As soon as Australian skateboarder, Oliver Percovich, dropped his board in Kabul in 2007, he was surrounded by the eager faces of children of all ages who wanted to be shown how to skate. Stretching out the three boards that he and a former Continue reading »

Bull Riding Saturday night, August 11th, at the 2012 PGX in Prince George, BC.

I had problems when video taping, and then major problems when converting and editing the video. The sound is totally screwed up in some parts – for sure the 7:40 mark or so, but I give up and am just going to post it. Sorry if your bull ride is not on here, and sorry it took so long to post. ~ Cathie

The Stewart Family Trick Riding

The Stewart Family, from the Hearts of the West, put on an amazing wild west show with trick riding, whip cracking, trick roping, roman riding and a little bit of line dancing, to get the crowd going before the bull riding competition started at the Prince George 100th anniversary PGX

These kids were fearless and amazing, as you will see from the video.
