‘Zombie’. The word has become synonymous with staggering, single-minded, undead flesh eaters, but the term originates from the ancient practice of ‘VooDoo’.
The first published article to mention the term ‘zombie’, was a 1929 article on voodoo in Haiti, by a popular Haitian magazine. The first actual zombie movie, White Zombie, was released in 1932, and starred Bela Lugosi. But, it was George Romero’s 1968 classic, Night of the Living Dead, that revolutionized horror films, and spawned hundreds of other zombie related films. Now there is speculation that perhaps there is a sinister motivation behind the zombie craze, one that is far more evil, and poses a far greater danger, than any of us know.
