Someday Forever by John Moelaert

The mark of a true artist is the ability to take the ordinary and make it extraordinary. For a musician, it is a simple note. For an artist, it’s a stick of graphite, and to a writer, it’s life. Case in point is ‘Someday Forever’, by John Moelaert. Someday Forever is a literatical land made up of many things, from tugs at heartstrings and the exposure of corporate greed, to sexual predation and obsession. Perhaps I’m biased because the author’s a BC boy, but I think not, because good work transposes global geography, and exists on a separate and distinct plane of existence.

The story line follows the life of Canadian, Lorne Vincent, a soul who is Continue reading »

Stephen Harper stands at podium

Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, was less than amused recently as reporters laughed hysterically when he stepped up to the podium to address an international press conference. Apparently a Quebec graphic artist, Luc Warm, had prepared what was supposed to be a bilingual podium facing, and used a spelling error to make what many feel in Quebec is an accurate political statement.

There is a now an exhaustive international manhunt on for Warm, who is believed to have fled for the tropics. Luc is described as 5 foot 10 inches tall, has dark hair, brown eyes, weighs 175 pounds and Continue reading »

World Ocean Day June 8th

June 8th in 2009. The concept was proposed on June 8th, 1992 by Canada, at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was unofficially celebrated every year as World Oceans Day until the UN proclamation. It has been coordinated internationally since then by The Ocean Project, and the World Ocean Network, with greater success and global participation each year.

World Oceans Day is an opportunity every year to honour the world’s oceans, celebrate the products the ocean provides such as seafood as well as marine life itself for aquariums, pets, and also a time to appreciate its own intrinsic value. The ocean also provides sea-lanes for international trade. Global pollution and over-consumption of fish have resulted in Continue reading »

Law ClassOne day, in his contract law class, Professor Jenson asked one of his better students, “Now if you were to give someone an orange, how would you go about it?” The student replied, “Here’s an orange.” The professor was livid, and said, “No! No! Think like a lawyer!”

The student began again, “I would hand him the orange, and inform him, ‘I hereby give, and convey unto you, all and singular, my estate and interests, rights, claim, title, claim and advantages of and in said orange, together with all its rind, juice, pulp, and seeds, and all rights and advantages, with full power to bite, cut, freeze and otherwise eat, the same, or give the same away with and without the pulp, juice, rind and seeds, anything herein, before or hereinafter or in any deed, or deeds, instruments of whatever nature or kind whatsoever to the contrary in anywise notwithstanding’.”

Worm Salt

Worm Tequila Salt, or Sal de Gusano in Spanish, definitely isn’t for vegetarians. Gusano worms, plucked from their spiky cactus homes, are ground up, and then blended with rock salt and chili, to give it a nice smoky flavor. Not only is this salt perfect for those tequila shots, it is also perfect for salsa, salads or sprinkling on your fries.

Edible Gummy Party PythonThe ultimate jaw-numbing wall-crawling sugar rush is here. The Edible Gummy Party Python is every kid’s dream. It is a twenty six pound edible python, that is nearly eight feet long, almost five inches in diameter, and is available in two fabulous flavor combinations, Red Cherry and Blue Raspberry, or Blue Raspberry and Green Apple. However, we must caution parents not to allow their child to eat it all at once, as it contains over twelve pounds (5.8 kg) of sugar, and packs a walloping 36,720 calories! The Party Python will last for about a year, as long as it is kept away from direct sunlight and extreme heat. For best results, keep it refrigerated in a sealed box or plastic tub. For grandparents tapped out for ideas for more noisy toys, it’s the perfect hyper-kid catalyst, allowing your children to suspect their kids of hyperactivity, just like you did when they were little.
