The following are our guidelines for article submissions to The Northern Star.
All submissions must be written in English.
Paragraphs are your friend. Please make sure to use them. No one likes to read a large block of text.
Do not use formatting in your story or article – eg: font colors, italics, bold, centering etc.
Do not double space.
Absolutely no profane, sexually explicit, racist, libelous or slanderous material is allowed!
Images are accepted and appreciated for articles. However, you must provide information about where you got them from. That way credit can be given to the owner of the image if needed. We also prefer large images so that we can resize them for the article. So none smaller than 1200 pixels wide if possible.
Each article will be reviewed manually. No spun or low quality content will be accepted. The article must be grammatically correct and well-written.
If we find a suitable place within your article from which we can link to supplemental content on our site, we may do that.
The Northern Star editors reserve the right to edit your article for grammar and spelling, and may edit your title for SEO purposes.
We do not accept articles with unnatural links. Not only will they hurt our website, they will also hurt the website you are promoting. If you are unsure what unnatural links are, we suggest you read Google’s article on Link schemes.
If you have a link in your article, the page you are linking to MUST be closely related to the content of the article. If your article is about “Cool DIY Projects For The Home” and you have a link to a page about “women’s fashion”, we will not accept the article.
All links in authors bios and articles will be “nofollow”.
Terms of Submission
The Northern Star has the right to refuse any material for publication, and to remove material at any time without notification.
Sending a submission does not in any way guarantee that it will be published. We try to let authors know if their article has been accepted and published, but sometimes we’re just way too busy (or forget).
Submitting your story/article does not entitle you to financial compensation of any kind from The Northern Star. The only compensation we provide contributors is public exposure of their talent and ability, to wit: publishing their story/article, name, photo, website/blog/social media link, and email address (if asked to). Again, there will be no monetary compensation paid for submissions, and no offer has been made.
To submit a contribution email it to us. Feel free to also email us with any questions.
