I recently received a copy of ‘Photobombed – Making Bad Pictures Great, and Good Pictures Awesomely Bad’, by Beverly L. Jenkins, from Source Books.
Before I go into any detail about it, let’s make sure that everyone is on the same page. ‘Photobomb’ is a term that’s used to describe the act ruining other people’s photos by making faces, gestures or unwanted appearances just as they capture their Kodak moment. While often very annoying, it can also be very humorous to those not directly affected by the bomb. I was a little disappointed at the clarity of the pics in the review copy (which I’m sure is better in retail versions), but hey, how can you go wrong with this subject matter?
And, Beverly certainly did it justice, even increasing its fun with text bombs of her own. If you are a prankster at heart, you’re going to giggle yourself silly reading this book. However, if you’re still harboring deep resentment from the last time you personally were ‘bombed’, this book will comfort your soul as you flip through example after example of others who have also been maddened by this juvenile, but hilarious activity. Buy a copy of Photobombed – Making Bad Pictures Great, and Good Pictures Awesomely Bad, and at the very least, you’ll have a photographic reminder that you are not alone.
Photobombed – Making Bad Pictures Great, and Good Pictures Awesomely Bad is a book that I think is just as comfortable, and appropriate on a coffee table, as it is in the loo. In fact, some of the book is highly recommended bathroom reading, as there is a very strong possibility that it will get you laughing so hard that you’ll pee your pants:-) As a tribute to photographic ‘Denice the Menace’s’, this book is a visual exhibit of stupid, off-guard and unsolicited hilarity, and is a must have for anyone with a sense of humor.
