Once upon a time, high upon a steep mountainside, there was an eagle nest with four large eggs inside. One day, an earthquake caused one of the eggs to roll out of the nest, and all the way down to a chicken farm, located in the valley far below. The chickens adopted and protected the eagle egg as one of their own, and eventually, a beautiful eagle was born. Being chickens, they raised the eagle as a chicken.
The eagle loved his home and family, but its spirit cried out for more. One day, the eagle looked to the skies above, and saw a group of mighty eagles soaring. ”Oh,” the eagle cried, “I wish I could soar like them.” The chickens roared with laughter, “Silly child, you can’t soar like eagles. You’re a chicken, and chickens do not soar.”
The eagle continued staring at the graceful birds, dreaming of being like them. Each time the eagle shared his dreams with the chickens, it was told his dream would never come true, and eventually it believed them. After enough time, the eagle stopped dreaming, and lived the rest of his life as a chicken.
Moral: Follow your heart and dreams, and don’t listen to chickens.
